Woman’s ‘genius’ cheese-cutting hack offers even slices each time

Trying to cut cheese slices freehand can be fiddly – you usually end up with some way thicker than others and some may be a little wonky.

However, one woman has a solution that practically guarantees ‘even slices’ every time. Bella, who posts online as @paperbelle, has been praised for sharing her ‘genius’ cheese-cutting hack that doesn’t involve a knife at all.

In the viral clip, which has gained more than 180,000 views, the mum claims she uses a potato peeler to slice her cheese instead. “You mean to tell me you’ve never used a peeler to peel your cheese?” she said.

The Australian influencer went on to demonstrate her technique by gliding the peeler along the top of a block of cheddar. The tool smoothly cut her a thin and even slice of cheese, which would do perfectly for sandwiches.

Bella explained: “I have done this my whole life. My whole family does this. And you do it because you get a really even cheese slice.” Proudly displaying her achievement for the camera, she concluded: “See? It’s perfect.”

In the caption, Bella added: “As someone who consumes a lot of cheese on toast, I can confirm that this is the ultimate way to slice cheese.”

TikTok users were left stunned by the clip as they took to the comments branding it a “game-changer”. One user said: ” You’ve changed my life! Whaattttt?!”

Another commented: “This is lowkey genius,” while a third added: “Omg it’s genius! Doing this from now on!.” A fourth wrote: “How do people not know this?”

Meanwhile, other users argued that she should just buy a Norwegian cheese slicer as it works in a similar way. Or she could use the slicing side of a cheese grater.

A viewer wrote: “I recommend a Norwegian cheese slicer,” as another commented: “You know the grater has a slicing side?”

Coming to her defence, one woman said: “Why are people telling you to get a ‘real’ cheese slicer when this obviously works fine.” To which, Bella replied: “People are very passionate evidently.”
