Kate Abdo’s accomplice opens up on Jamie Carragher meet after ‘hurtful’ joke on CBS

Kate Abdo’s boyfriend has shared that Jamie Carragher ‘apologised in person’ after his ‘not loyal’ joke on CBS Sports.

Carragher’s joke, which he made after a Champions League match between Arsenal and Porto, fell flat and went viral in the day after the broadcast, which also featured Micah Richards and Thierry Henry. The quartet have become synonymous with the show’s coverage of the Champions League, reports the Mirror.

When Manchester United supporter Abdo declared she was “too loyal” to wear Arsenal gear, Liverpool legend Carragher quipped “not to Malik”. Abdo’s ex-boxer sweetheart, Malik Scott, didn’t appreciate the humour as he then retaliated with a threat to confront Carragher physically should he overstep again.

Initially irate, Scott later joined Carragher and the rest of the CBS Sports gang for a meal with a cheeky snap of the gathering posted on Instagram by the boxing trainer, captioned: “Pre-Game Meal with The Best Panel in sports”.

The 43-year-old took the joke in his stride when questioned about it back in March. He conveyed: “It was not something I lost any sleep over because I noticed the way Kate handled it was very, very well, and Jamie was just being Jamie and I have no problem with him,” he admitted to Lord Ping.

Speaking to Casino Online In, Scott, who previously trained former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, has revealed he received an apology from Carragher, for whom he has the “utmost respect”.

“Jamie had an off moment and said something he shouldn’t have said – how many times in life have we all done that,” Scott said. “You chop it up and apologise like men, which he did, and life goes on. I respect anyone who has a mishap and is man enough to apologise to the person and the person’s partner. I felt no ill feelings when we met.”

“The thing that Jamie said, Kate was hurt, but they all made up and handled it collectively at the time. I said my piece on it, but the real thing is, we all got together and looked into each other’s eyes and had great food and great conversations.

“I never had a strong opinion about Jamie Carragher, only about the things that he said, but meeting him, I really enjoyed the man’s company. I have the utmost respect for him, as well as the rest of the panel,” he added.

Scott also shared that laughs were exchanged between him and Carragher enjoyed during their lunch, with the joke controversy firmly behind them. “It was a good thing that I spoke up for my partner, I was standing up for the person I love,” he added.

“But I have nothing but the utmost respect for Jamie, Micah and Thierry. I love them to death and it was great to go over there and shake their hands. We had lunch and laughed.”
