Southgate set to snub Sancho for England Euro 2024 squad regardless of excellent type
Gareth Southgate has no intention of handing Jadon Sancho an England lifeline ahead of the Euros.
Sancho has revived his club career in stunning fashion since leaving Manchester United in January to return to Borussia Dortmund on-loan. The 24-year-old has been in sensational form, to help the Bundesliga outfit secure a place in next month’s Champions League final against the odds.
But it’s understood Southgate has no plans to recall Sancho and take him to the finals in Germany this summer. Southgate has a wealth of talent in the wide positions and is not prepared to risk disrupting his long term planning by handing Sancho a shock recall.

The Three Lions boss names his provisional 26-man training squad on May 21, but is expected to reduce it to 23 before heading to the tournament. Sancho has not played for the Three Lions since going on as a late substitute in the crushing defeat to Italy on penalties in the Euros final at Wembley in 2021.
He missed his spot kick and was subjected to racial abuse on social media afterwards. Sancho, meanwhile, is on a fresh collision course with United if he is forced to return to Old Trafford this summer.
