Brits to bake in 25C ‘heatwave’ as remainder of May to ‘break report after report’

Brits are set to bask in record-breaking heat for the rest of May, with temperatures hitting as high as 25C and possibly higher, an expert has claimed.

Since spring kicked into action, the sun has been out and the UK has been basking in its glory for most of the last few weeks. And it’s going to get hotter and hotter, according to Exacta Weather’s James Madden.

In his latest report, the expert has claimed that we are going to be breaking daily heat records for this time of year day after day, starting with today.

He said: “Today has now seen the hottest day of the year in parts of the south and London/Worcester being recorded at close to or matching a very warm 24C, and the same can be expected to happen again on multiple occasions throughout tomorrow (Friday) and into this weekend as temperatures rise to even higher values across many parts of the country from the far north to the far south.

“We will now see high pressure move in across our shores to deliver a largely warm, sunny, and almost on cue settled spell of weather for most and if not all parts of the country throughout this week. This will see temperatures exceeding the 20C mark quite widely from this week for a number of days, and these warm conditions will also extend into parts of the northern half of the country within this developing period too.

“It is plausible we could see temperatures hitting or exceeding the 25C mark in the hottest spots in parts of central and southern England. It is now completely safe to say that we are facing lots of dry and sunny weather during next week with well above-average to very warm temperatures for the time of year as our first proper warm spell of 2024 begins to take hold.”

Mr Madden didn’t specify which parts of the UK would see record-breaking temperatures, but it’s safe to assume that the south will get the brunt of it, while the further north you go it’ll be slightly cooler but still rather warm.

He did, however cast some doubt on whether next week will be equally as scorching, with some weather experts claiming we’ll have mid-week downpours to cool the ever-rising heat.

According to him, some third-party modelling systems are “presenting problems” for the weather, and it could see us met with “temporarily unsettled” weather . . . or an “intensification of these warm to potentially hot conditions”.
