Female trainer informed teen ‘nobody higher discover out’ earlier than pair ‘had intercourse’

A teacher accused of having a young teenager’s baby while on bail for having sex with another, warned an alleged victim ‘no one better find out’, a jury has heard.

Rebecca Joynes, 30, is currently on trial at Manchester Crown Court accused of six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, including two while being a person in a position of trust. She denies the allegations.

Jurors at the trial have previously heard that Ms Joynes allegedly groomed one child with a Trafford Centre shopping trip, before having sex with him, and then fell pregnant by another teenage pupil.

Yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, May 8), M.E.N reported that jurors were shown video footage of an interview the first boy – known as Boy A – gave to police. He told officers that after being picked up by Ms Joynes, she drove him to the Trafford Centre and took him to the Selfridges store where she allegedly bought him a £350 Gucci belt.

After leaving the shop, the boy said Ms Joynes drove him to her flat in Salford Quays. While climbing the stairs, he said he felt ‘a bit weird’ about what was happening, before the pair began having sex with each other, he claims.

Joynes repeatedly told the boy ‘no one better find out’, he told officers. They then had sex a second time, the boy added, before he was picked up by the mother of a friend the next day.

Before dropping him at home, he said the friend’s mum told him: “I’m not going to tell your mum this time, but don’t do anything this stupid again.”

Later that day, he said he messaged Ms Joynes on Snapchat to say he was concerned that his mother ‘might find out’. He alleged that she replied: “She better not find out that it was me.”

The boy said he reassured her that she would not, but added: “I’m not staying again because it’s too risky. One time is enough.” He said Ms Joynes sent a reply saying ‘that’s fine with me’.

Ms Joynes, of Pensby Road, Wirral, denies two counts of sexual activity with Boy A, two counts of sexual activity with Boy B and two counts of sexual activity with Boy B while being a person in a position of trust. The trial continues.
