Couple hear unusual noise coming from oven at 5.30am – then make wild discovery

A couple were left gobsmacked after they heard bizarre noises coming from their oven at the crack of dawn – and what they found inside was utterly bonkers.

The bleary-eyed pair, who were constantly being woken up by strange sounds in their kitchen, finally realised the noise was coming from their oven vent. After trying to take the vent apart, they were shocked to find a cat had got itself stuck in there.

Posting on Reddit, the duo explained they’d hoped the animal would make its own way out. But when it stayed put, they had to ramp up their rescue efforts.

User SoCalChrisW told the bonkers tale in the thread r/cats, revealing they lured the moggie out with a bit of tuna and a small towel. They posted: “My wife woke up this morning to meowing.

“She traced it down to the vent hood of our stove, and woke me up. By 5:30, I had the vent hood and fan removed, and was still trying to get kitty out.”

The moggy refused to come out at first

However, the user also noted that some dodgy DIY by a former landlord had thrown a spanner in the works, making the whole operation even trickier. “By 6:30 I was in the attic looking for a way to disassemble the venting to free it, but our house has had some questionable work done on it by the landlord, so I couldn’t disassemble it without destroying it.

“So I left it open, hoping the cat would eventually come out. It didn’t.” The lucky moggy was given a chance to chill before the pair decided to adopt her.

The Reddit user shared: “It feels like she kind of chose us and wants in, and she’s super happy just hanging out in here with me while she catches up on her rest from this morning’s several hour long ordeal.”

“This is my first cat in close to 20 years, I’ve always had dogs but tend to love all animals, so I’m excited.” Fellow Redditors were quick to celebrate the new furry family member, with one cheekily asking: “Where do I get one of these meowing stoves?”
