Fuming Aston Villa fan headbutts barrier when he cannot deal with Olympiacos taunts

An angry Aston Villa fan lost his head so much he decided to use it as a weapon.

Villa came crashing out of the Europa Conference League in Piraeus as Ayoub El Kaabi bagged a brace. And after the full-time whistle, Olympiacos fans started to taunt the travelling supporters – with it all being too much for one fan.

The home and away crowd were separated by a see-through barrier, and as fans taunted each other, one Villa fan started to punch the plexiglass. However, when no damage was being done, he started to headbutt the barrier.

“It’s amazing how hard perspex glass can make people,” one fan joked. While a second shared: “It’s a good job continental European football fans aren’t known for a proclivity for violence, otherwise they would be in trouble later on…”

“Giving load behind a screen… have a beer in the sun ffs,” a third replied. And another added: “What’s wrong with going and just watching the game?”

The Aston Villa headbutted the screen

Villa were the last English team standing in Europe – after Manchester City, Arsenal and West Ham all crashed out of their respective competitions in the quarter-finals.

Speaking after the game, Unai Emery said: “Unfortunately we lost the opportunity in the first leg, we have to accept this and how we can improve.

“This is a difficult day but we have to react quickly. It is a process and the first objective was to compete in Europe. These are great experiences for us and it is difficult to win in these competitions, whether it is the Champions League or Conference League.

“We have two games left to get the fourth position, which is amazing motivation.”
