Pool participant produces ‘loopy shot’ however followers cannot agree whether or not it was a ‘fluke’
A stunning pool shot by Joshua Filler left fans pondering whether or not it was a “fluke”.
‘The Killer’ took on Anton Raga in the BetVictor 2024 UK Open Pool Championship at the Telford International Centre. He claimed revenge against his old foe with a commanding a 10-0 masterclass.
The performance marked a stark contrast to Raga’s victory over Filler in the 2023 European Open. And it produced the most astonishing moment of the day when Filler managed to pot the black in one of the middle pockets with a spectacular long range effort.

The black was resting just short of the top cushion, with the white at the other end of the table. Filler clipped the black on the right, bouncing it off the top cushion, the left cushion and the bottom cushion, then sending it into the right middle pocket.
Matchroom Pool posted a clip on the shot on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: “Have you ever seen something as good as this?!? This is no fluke. He actually played this shot. Ladies and gentleman, Joshua Filler.”

Some fans weren’t so sure, with one X user commenting: “Joshua is the best player on Earth right now, but this is a fluke.” However, another fan replied: “It’s not. It’s a two-way shot for the exact reason Karl [Boyes] mentions in the comms.”
“If it doesn’t go in, it hits the jaw and probably loses the frame,” another viewer opined. “It’s a hit and hope fluke.” But others hit back, with one arguing: “Two in one with the potential for cover behind the 9 if he misses. Anyone that’s played to a decent level knows this is as played.”
Other fans didn’t concern themselves with the debate, with one gasping: “That shot was crazy!” Meanwhile, another fan simply stated: “That’s why he is The Killer.”
