Spurs followers’ City chant reveals ‘loser membership mentality’ say indignant Arsenal supporters

A video of Tottenham fans singing a controversial new chant has angered Arsenal supporters – who are praying their bitter rivals do them a favour in the Premier League title race.

Mikel Arteta’s men desperately need rivals Manchester City to slip up just once during their final two matches so the Gunners – if they do their job by beating Manchester United today (Sunday) and Everton next weekend – can claim their first Premier League title in 20 years.

Pep Guardiola’s champions travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night to face a team who have not shipped a single Premier League goal at home to City since the ground opened in 2019. City will be expected to defeat West Ham at home on the last day of the season, meaning the clash with Spurs has taken on huge significance.

With two games remaining, as it stands fifth-placed Tottenham find themselves just four points behind Aston Villa in fourth – meaning Champions League qualification remains a possibility for Ange Postecoglou. But plenty of Spurs fans have said they would happily miss out on that goal, if doing so helps City beat Arsenal to the title.

Now a video has emerged of Tottenham fans chanting along with a singer and guitarist in a Spurs shirt. The clip, which has gone viral, shows the singer bellowing out the lyrics: “I’m City ’til July, I’m City ’til July, I know I am, I’m sure I am, I’m City ’til July.”

Gunners fans branded the new song “pathetic”. One Arsenal ranting on X, formerly known as Twitter, said it revealed the difference between the North London rivals. “Such a loser club mentality,” he said.

Another unimpressed Arsenal fan added: “Typical small club mentality.” A third posted: “Absolutely shameless, always gonna be a loser.”

Other fans branded the clip “embarrassing”, with one supporter asking “how sad are spurs fans?” But many Tottenham fans didn’t seem to care in the slightest, with one supporter replying “yes we are all City” and another calling the song “a banger”.
