Crab ‘bribes captors’ with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles PEZ dispenser

A cheeky crab has been snapped brandishing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles PEZ dispenser.

The crafty crustacean was spotted holding the iconic Donatello-themed sweet dispenser in its left claw while perched on a crate of mussels.

The quirky image was shared on Reddit’s r/mildlyinteresting subreddit, where a user posted: “My friend’s dad found a crab holding a Donatello PEZ Dispenser.” The unusual sighting soon sparked a wave of speculation among users of the platform about how the crab ended up with this nostalgic children’s item.

One user mused: “Now I’m wondering if the crab used this as a threat display to fend off predators as well as other crabs during territorial disputes.” Another chimed in with: “He’s asking for a refill on the Pezzzzz mannnn.” And a third believed the crab could be posing for a potential “Time Magazine cover” shoot.

Some commenters were more concerned about the crab’s fate, urging for its release. “He’s offering up a bribe to let him go! Please say he threw him back!” implored one, while another said: “I think throwing it back is the right thing to do. I’d say we should encourage more crabs to do this. Think of how they could clean up the ocean?”

Luckily there was a happy ending, as revealed by the friend mentioned in the original post: “As said friend in post I can say crab is continuing his crime fighting journey with Donnie.”

Channelling the crustacean’s perspective, another witty Reddit user added: “Humans! I have come with this offering you have given us from so long ago!

“My ancestors have passed it down along generations and now it is my honor to be here to give this to you, which is clearly one of your gods because you made it so indestructible that the most powerful thing on the planet, the ocean, could not end its existence. take this offering of friendship!”
