Saliba admits Arsenal crew became Spurs followers as they ‘pray’ vs Man City
William Saliba is ‘praying’ Tottenham do bitter rivals Arsenal one of the biggest favours in football history on Tuesday night.
Tottenham host Manchester City in a crunch showdown that could have a defining impact on the title race. If City win to go back to the top of the table, Pep Guardiola’s men can clinch a record fourth straight title by beating West Ham on the final day of the league season this weekend.
But if Tottenham can somehow beat the reigning champions, Arsenal will be in pole position to pip them to the post and win the Premier League for the first time in 20 years. The prospect of Tottenham helping Arsenal become champions is so bad, that even some of their own fans don’t want them to beat Mikel Arteta’s men.

And while Saliba admits the entire Arsenal squad will be cheering on their enemy, he has no doubts Ange Postecoglou’s men will be professional and do what they can to take down City. But the centre-back admits Arsenal might need some divine intervention to get the result they need.
The France international said: “I think all the team will be Tottenham fans on Tuesday. Let’s pray for Tuesday. I hope it will be a good week for us and we will see.

“We have another job next weekend, so let’s see what happens. They (Tottenham) want to play in the Champions League next season, so I think they will try to win.
“I know their fans don’t want them to win against City, but they are good competitors so I think they will try their best to win against City.
“We know that Tottenham is a very good team. Our first game and second game with them (this season) were not easy. I hope they will be at their best on Tuesday.”

Arsenal switched the pressure back onto City with a hard fought win at Old Trafford on Sunday, thanks to Leandro Trossard’s first half strike. Saliba admits his side were far from their best and had to suffer to get the three points.
But the defender knows that at this stage of the season results and not performances are all that count. He added: “We are happy because it wasn’t easy today to go there and to take the points.
“It was a long time that we hadn’t gone there and won. Of course, we weren’t so good and we suffered a lot. We had to stay compact and suffer until the end.
“We did well. We took the three points and let’s move to next week.”
