Sleepover killer Damien Bendall ‘beats lag with hammer’ as he ‘fights for all times’

Evil sleepover killer Damien Bendall has allegedly left a fellow lag ‘fighting for his life’ after attacking him with a claw hammer in a jail workshop.

Bendall, then 32, killed pregnant Terri Harris, 35, her children John Paul Bennett, 13, Lacey Bennet, 11, and Lacey’s friend Connie Gent, 11, during a sleepover.

The bodies were discovered in Chandos Crescent, Killamarsh, Derbyshire, on September 19, 2021, and a judge handed the killer a whole life order, telling him there was no other option “given the seriousness of your offences is so exceptionally high”.

Bendall, who had previously admitted manslaughter, was accused of murdering all four, as well as raping Lacey.

And now, a source told the Sun that the evil killer bludgeoned a fellow lag at Frankland Prison, County Durham, “three or four times” to the point where the alleged victim may not survive.

A source said: “This is a shocking and horrendous attack even by the standards of Frankland, which is a grim and violent place. The prison officers and medics who attended were traumatised.

“Police will investigate it as either attempted murder or murder, depending on whether the victim survives.”

The source added that Bendall has been put into a segregation unit. The Daily Star understands that a man is receiving treatment in hospital after an attack.

Bendall earned the moniker ‘sleepover killer’ as Lacey’s best friend Connie had been with the family for a sleepover when he unleashed horror.

Outlining the case in December 2022, Louis Mably KC, prosecutor, said: “He also murdered Connie Gent, a friend of Lacey’s who just happened to be staying at the house for a sleepover.

“The defendant attacked them using a claw hammer. He hit them with such ferocity that in essence their skulls were smashed in. It was perfectly clear none of the victims stood a chance.”

A Prison Service spokesperson said: “We cannot comment on a live police investigation but prisoners who are violent face tough punishments.”
