Eva Green stuns on the Cannes Film Festival in an off-shoulder shirt

Eva Green made a stunning arrival on day one of the annual Cannes Film Festival the Palais des Festivals on Tuesday afternoon as she attended a photocall.

The French actress, 43, was wearing an off-the-shoulder shirt and a stylish skirt, which accentuated her svelte waist and hourglass shape.

Eva showcased her toned pins in the skirt, which featured a daring slit up the middle as she flashed a beaming smile to the cameras.

The screen star boosted her petite frame with black high heels and finished her look with gold hooped earrings.

The former Bond Girl is a member of this year’s jury – a group of filmmakers and actors who hold sole responsibility for choosing which films will receive an award.

Eva posed with fellow jury member Nadine Labaki and the jury president, Barbie director Greta Gerwig.

The jury is complete with Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona, 49, Turkish actress Ebru Ceylan, 48, Italian actor, 54, Pierfrancesco Favino;

American actress Lily Gladstone, 37, Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda, 61, Lebanese actress and director Nadine Labaki, 50, and French actor Omar Sy, 46.

During the Festival’s opening ceremony, the jury will present three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep with an honorary Palme d’Or.

In a statement Meryl shared with The Hollywood Reporter, she wrote: ‘I am immeasurably honored to receive the news of this prestigious award. 

‘To win a prize at Cannes, for the international community of artists, has always represented the highest achievement in the art of filmmaking. 

‘To stand in the shadow of those who have previously been honored is humbling and thrilling in equal part. I so look forward to coming to France to thank everyone in person this May!’

In a joint statement, Cannes festival heads Iris Knobloch and Thierry Frémaux wrote: ‘We all have something in us of Meryl Streep! 

‘We all have something in us of Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie’s Choice, Out of Africa, The Bridges of Madison County, The Devil Wears Prada and Mamma Mia! 

‘Because she has spanned almost 50 years of cinema and embodied countless masterpieces, Meryl Streep is part of our collective imagination, our shared love of cinema.’

Past winners of the Palme d’Or include Jane Fonda, Forest Whitaker, and Jodie Foster.

During the Festival’s opening ceremony, the jury will present three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, 74, with an honorary Palme d’Or 

Meryl arrived at the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival wearing a white suit with a straw hat and silver stilettos. 

A host of A-list stars are expected to arrive in Cannes for the opening ceremony, including Sienna Miller who is currently en route with her mother, her boyfriend Oli Green, and their four-month-old baby girl.

Anya Taylor-Joy and her Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga co-star Chris Hemsworth are also ready to make an entrance on Tuesday evening. 

The Cannes Film Festival has been cancelled only twice in its almost eight-decade run: in 1968, after it had already begun, because of striking French students, and in 2020 because of Covid.
