Gary Neville celebrates Aston Villa’s late equaliser in opposition to Liverpool

Gary Neville celebrated in style after Aston Villa earned a late point against Liverpool on Monday night.

The former Manchester United defender was alongside Jamie Carragher in Sky Sports’ final Monday Night football programme of the season.

Jurgen Klopp‘s men had lead 3-1 at Villa Park until Jhon Duran came off the bench to make an instant impact.

The Colombian striker scored twice in three minutes to take Aston Villa a step closer to Champions League qualification.

And Neville showed his true United colours in an off-camera euphoria once Duran’s second goal went in after it had deflected off his thigh.

The 49-year-old ran in front of Carragher, who seemed surprised at the goal, and around the studio with his arms in the air.

Back in the studio, host Dave Jones asked Neville if he enjoyed the late equaliser and the latter replied: ‘Yeah, particularly if Liverpool concede late on, yeah’.

Liverpool had taken the lead after just two minutes following a howler by Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez before Youri Tielemans leveled the score.

Goals from Cody Gakpo and Jarell Quansah saw Liverpool race into a 3-1 lead before Duran’s late heroics.

The draw at Villa Park now means Unai Emery’s men are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since the 1982-83 season.

The feat will be confirmed if fifth-placed Tottenham fail to beat Manchester City on Tuesday night.
