Harry and Meghan to cease elevating Archewell funds as charity dubbed ‘delinquent’

Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle have been ordered to stop raising charitable funds through their Archwell foundation as it owes money – and needs to file paperwork from last year.

Archewell was founded in October 2020, a few months after the couple fled the UK to California to escape the Royal Family. And all has been well in the charity world for them, until it emerged that California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta issued the organisation with a delinquency notice.

For the unaware, that means the charity must immediately stop fundraising until it sorts out outstanding issues. And those outstanding issues involve submitting paperwork owed from the last financial year, and paying an unpaid bill.

According to the Telegraph, “a cheque for the money was sent but never arrived” and a new one has been issued to solve the bill issue – how much that is worth has not been made public, and it is thought the pair did not know the initial cheque didn’t arrive until the penalty notice was made on May 3.

However, according to Page Six: “An organisation that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds.

“The organization may also be subject to penalties and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.”

As a result of the notice, not only do the pair have to file the outstanding paperwork and pay the bill, they also have to submit a document explaining why they got into this mess in the first place . . . and pay a late fee penalty.

Sources claim the pair have asked for an extension, but that has not been confirmed by the charity or government officials as yet.
