Teacher who ‘had teen’s child’ admits she was ‘lonely and appreciated his consideration’

A teacher accused of having sex with two teenagers has admitted she liked their attention.

Rebecca Joynes, 30, allegedly engaged in sexual relationships with two boys, Boy A and Boy B. While their identities must remain anonymous for legal reasons, one of the boys is alleged to have got her pregnant.

On Monday morning (May 13), Joynes was seen arriving at Manchester Crown Court alongside her father. Giving evidence, she said: “I let my guard down. I caved into the attention he was giving me. I was lonely and liked the attention.”

Joynes denied having a “powerful sexual attraction to boys aged 15,” according to the Sun.

She allegedly started a relationship with Boy B while he was still at school. Joynes, who denies all six counts of sexual activity with two teenagers, admitted she had sex with Boy B after he had left school and upon suspension from her job in July 2022 while on bail while police investigated allegations regarding Boy A, the court heard. The pair had sex at least 30 times, jurors heard.

It has been alleged, however, that she began her relationship with Boy B while he was still at school.

It is alleged she first had sex with Boy B after they had gone to her flat to watch the Manchester United v Middlesbrough FA Cup tie in February 2022. She is accused of beginning to message him in October 2021. She told the court she thought he “genuinely cared” about her welfare.

She says she’d initially seen Boy B as her “best friend”. When she reportedly fell pregnant with his child, the court heard she presented him with a babygrow. But during the hearing she broke down, explaining that the child was “taken off me 24 hours after she was born”.

She is also accused of two counts of sexual activity with Boy A who is claimed to be 15 when she first allegedly “groomed “ him.
