Arsenal followers attempt to distract Ederson after Man City goalkeeper’s quantity leaked

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has revealed Arsenal fans sent him a selection of “funny messages” and trolling texts after his phone number was leaked.

Arsenal supporters were glued to their TV screens on Tuesday evening as they begged North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to do them a favour against City. Pep Guardiola’s side knew they would return to the top of the table, taking them two points clear of the Gunners, if they beat Spurs.

Gunners fans had a few tricks up their sleeves to try and hinder City’s preparation. As well as setting off fireworks outside a hotel, which was later revealed not to be housing City’s players at all, they also bombarded Ederson with phone call and text messages.

The Brazilian shot stopper took to Instagram to share his recent WhatsApp notifications, captioning the snap: “My number was leaked, and I had some funny messages.”

Ederson was named in the starting side, but he was forced off the pitch after a scary collision with Cristian Romero. Guardiola’s side were 1-0 up at the time, thanks to Erling Haaland’s 26th goal of the season.

Haaland would net his 27th from the penalty spot in the 90th minute, but only after Ederson’s replacement Stefan Ortega had kept the Champions’ title hopes alive – denying Son Heung-min one-on-one.

Guardiola hailed the German keeper after the game: “He saves us – otherwise Arsenal are champions. That is the reality. The margins are so tight.

“Oh my God, the save from Son. It was incredible. One-on-one, Stefan is one of the best keepers I’ve seen in my entire life. It’s the German culture – stand up, don’t go down.”

City now have one hand on the Premier League title, and a win against West Ham on Sunday will see then conquer England for the fourth consecutive season. However, any sort of slip up will open the door for Arsenal.
