Horrified mother and father uncover NAILS glued to toddler swings and a slide
Parents in a sleepy Oxfordshire village have been left ‘horrified’ after nails were left glued to toddler swings and a slide at a children’s playground.
Police are investigating after a vandal left the nails glued onto equipment at the parish council play area in Marcham over the weekend.
A local official said the nails appeared overnight and have now been removed, with no children injured. But parents are being urged to remain vigilant.
They were found on a swing for toddlers, a rotating platform and towards the end of a slide – raising the horrific prospect of a child jumping down from the top of the slide without realising the nail was at the bottom.
Marcham, around five miles south-west of Oxford, is a pretty and historic village with a Georgian manor house, a pub, a shop, a Post Office and a 13th-century church.

The play area is less than 200 yards from a Church of England primary school and a nursery.
The local parish council clerk said the nails had been found over the weekend.
She told MailOnline: ‘We are shocked and horrified by the incident.
‘It is beyond comprehension that anyone would sabotage a play space like that but thankfully no children were injured.
‘The nails were found on toddlers’ swings too as well as a slide and a rotating platform.
‘They were glued onto the equipment with hard glue – a bit like superglue – but have now been removed.’
The clerk said police had been informed and ‘were now investigating’.

‘There’s been no damage to the equipment and the area is safe,’ she said.
‘Notices have been put on the play area gates to advise parents to be vigilant just in case it reoccurs but the play area is still open.
‘Should this reoccur then it might have to be closed but we are keeping a close eye on things and the area is being checked several times a day.’
MailOnline has contacted Thames Valley Police for comment.
