Reckless driver ‘went 150mph with youngster, 3, in automobile earlier than crashing’
A reckless driver hit speeds of 150mph with a three-year-old child in the car before ploughing into a lamppost during a high-speed police chase.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) chased down the Audi A3 on Tuesday after it failed to stop at 6.57pm.
The white motor raced through Rochdale, towards Whitworth and back, reaching terrifying speeds of 150mph before it crashed 13 minutes later.
Police say a three-year-old child had been sitting on a passenger’s lap during the pursuit. A dog was also in the Audi.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and possessing cannabis with intent to supply. Officers allegedly found cannabis in the car.

The child has since been taken into police protection, GMP confirmed, with the dog seized for its own protection and the car also taken away by officers.
Pictures from the scene showed several police cruisers involved in the chase, which started in n Bury New Road, Heywood, and ended in Bentley Street, Rochdale.
A police helicopter was also used during the high-speed chase.
Inspector Richard Shelton, of our Rochdale district, said: ‘This is extremely dangerous levels of offending and I’m thankful to report that no one was hurt during this pursuit.
‘The reckless actions of these offenders have put a three-year-old child at risk, as well as members of the public going about their daily business.
‘The speeds reached are beyond unacceptable and I am pleased that our officers acted swiftly to secure these arrests, bring the child into police protection and seize the vehicle.’
