Meghan Markle is ‘old-school regal’ on tour however Harry seems ‘much less royal’

Meghan Markle has undergone a style transformation for her Nigeria visit, adopting an ‘old-school regal’ look during her ‘royal tour’ with Prince Harry. A body language expert has analysed the Duchess of Sussex’s striking appearance during the three day trip, which saw Meghan looking radiant in a sleeveless white top that highlighted her shoulders and toned arms as she met with the Save The Children team.

The Duchess then completed her look with a pair of wide-legged grey trousers for a casual touch. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled to Nigeria last week for their Invictus Games duties and took the opportunity to meet with Save The Children. Yet while many royal watchers were keen to see what the couple would get up to on tour, body language specialist Judi James scrutinised Meghan’s behaviour during the trip.

She observed: “Meghan’s body language is old-school regal here with a dignified-looking straight back and minimum movement as she listens graciously to the stories they are being told.”, reports the Mirror. “She maintains a forward-facing posture at the table, only turning her head to one side to listen.”

“Her closed-lip smile appears gracious and she uses subtle eye-blink gestures to encourage them to continue their stories and to convey understanding or empathy. Her most significant gesture comes when she raises her hands and wrings them together, again to suggest some form of empathy.”

By contrast, Judi described Prince Harry’s posture as “slightly slumped and less ‘royal’ “, as she pointed out how he incorporates a different, super-emphatic or mimed hand gesture for each word during his conversations “as though either wanting to emphasise the vital importance of each word he is saying.”

Highlighting the clear contrast between both attitudes, Judi described the pair as a “double act” that combined Harry’s high energy approach to new meetings, versus “Meghan’s regal elegance.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have expressed their profound gratitude to the people of Nigeria for their warm welcome during their recent visit. In a statement posted on their official website, SussexRoyal.com, the couple wrote: “The Duke and Duchess would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the event organizers, military officials and the whole Nigerian community for their tremendous hospitality and the first of many memorable trips.”

They also offered a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes moments of their trip, including a touching interaction where Meghan was visibly moved by a special gift for her children, Archie and Lilibet. Her earlier comments about missing them on Mother’s Day added to the emotional impact of the gesture.

During their high-profile tour of Africa, the Duchess of Sussex was left gobsmacked by a heartfelt gesture from 13 year old Grace Busari. Meghan was taken aback when she received a pair of beautiful hand-stitched teddy bears from Grace, the daughter of CNN Nigeria Bureau chief and Senior Editor who was invited to accompany Meghan and Harry on their visit.
