Charles and Camilla ‘might miss out marriage ceremony of yr’ as a result of ‘they do not neglect’

King Charles and Queen Camilla might just give the “wedding of the year” a miss, as whispers say they’ve not RSVP’d to a wedding set for just three weeks’ time.

The royal pair haven’t penned their attendance to Hugh Grosvenor’s upcoming nuptials with Olivia Henson, sparking rumours of a rift after they previously snubbed the wedding of the Duke’s sister, Lady Tamara Grosvenor, in 2004.

Back then, at Chester Cathedral where this year’s vows are also set to be exchanged, Lady Grosvenor tied the knot with Edward van Custem, King Charles’ godson. But Camilla, then known by her maiden name Parker Bowles, was given the cold shoulder, and told to sit rows behind Prince Charles and arrive solo.

The big day had the Queen and Prince Philip in attendance, along with young Princes William and Harry. Royal correspondent Richard Eden from MailOnline shared a source’s insight: “Their Majesties have not forgotten what happened at the wedding of Hugh’s sister. There is still a lot of tension that exists.”

Royal author Sarah Bradford revealed the now Queen was so incensed she informed Charles that the current situation was untenable. An insider at the time disclosed: “Her Majesty is a stickler for protocol. It would be inappropriate for Mrs Parker Bowles to sit beside Prince Charles since she has no official standing.”

The atmosphere was further strained by allegations that Emilie van Cutsem, mother of the groom, and Camilla had a falling out after purportedly criticising each other’s children’s conduct. With only days left before the event, Charles pulled out, citing a need to visit Warminster barracks to meet with families of soldiers stationed in Iraq, while his companion was “otherwise engaged”, reports the Mirror.

Despite Hugh being rumoured to be godfather to their son Prince Archie, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been snubbed from next month’s nuptials. It’s thought the duke fears their presence, who apparently received a save the date email by mistake, might stir up trouble with the Royal Family.

A Sussex confidant later stated: “Harry called Hugh and said it would be too awkward if he and Meghan Markle attended, so he made his apologies and Hugh understood.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their firstborn Prince George, who is also Hugh’s godson, are on the guest list for the wedding. However, Catherine is unlikely to make an appearance as she is currently receiving cancer treatment.

Buckingham Palace’s spokesperson has refused to comment on the matter.
