Steven Gerrard errors Fury vs Usyk for Blockbusters and brings VHS tapes

A historic night in Riyadh brought out the biggest stars as Anthony Joshua and Cristiano Ronaldo attended Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s undisputed heavyweight title fight.

But fans have been left scratching their hands as Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was spotted arriving with a handful of video tapes.

The Al-Ettifaq boss was filmed carrying three video tapes into the venue before looking lost as he searched for the man who he was supposed to be delivery the VHS’ to.

Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq side are currently 6th in the Saudi Pro League and with just one win in their last five games, it’s unlikely to be any managerial videos, perhaps a compilation of his greatest goals to be played on the big screen and entertain the crowd?

Fans on social media were left perplexed by Gerrard’s arrival, one joked on Twitter: “One for each decent match he managed.” A second said: “Walking into Blockbusters to return DVDs,” while a third quipped: “Blockbusters are going to charge him a serious late fee.”

Another X user speculated they were “Jurassic park vids from 1999”. While one fan with a very good memory of the former England midfielder’s favourite singer he once infamously asked a DJ to play, joked: “It’s tapes of Phil Collins singing Susudio live. You need to play these, la.”

After months of build-up and a postponed fight in February, the action proved to be the hottest ticket in town with fellow Saudi Pro League star Neymar arriving alongside fighting royalty Evander Holyfield, Conor McGregor, and Ryan Garcia.

Also appearing to support Usyk were his fellow countryman, former heavyweight world champion Wladimir Klitschko and Ballon d’Or winning striker Andriy Shevchenko.
