Bloke instructed ‘get assist now’ after asking Reddit about thriller bug in his residence
A bloke was sternly advised to “call professionals” after he turned to the internet for help with a creepy-crawly sighting in his home.
The puzzled chap sought answers from the r/whatsthisbug Reddit forum, posting a pic that Google Lens had labelled as a “bedbug“. Not entirely sold on Google’s verdict, he asked the question to the subreddit.
The responses were a mix of sympathy and sheer horror, with many Redditors telling him to stop wallowing in “denial” and get an exterminator in to sort a possible bedbug infestation as soon as possible.

One concerned user typed: “I understand being in denial but trust and believe if you wait to treat this you will be raining hell down upon yourself. Start treatment NOW. Please…they get so so so bad.”
Another chimed in: “I’m so sorry,” while a third nudged the original poster towards the r/bedbugs forum for more specialised advice. Later, the original poster chipped in again, asking: “What should I do?”
To which one person responded: “Don’t try to DIY this. Call professionals. Diatomaceous Earth only kills the bugs that come into direct contact with it. It won’t kill eggs. It won’t kill bugs that don’t walk directly through it.”
Another Redditor didn’t mince words, saying: “A situation in which I would not f**k around and find out. I’m all for DIY, but I would absolutely call an exterminator. Have them check the place out and tell them you found 1 and want to be safe.”
Another said: “It is for sure a bedbug dude, I totally understand the denial, but you have to accept it and get the problem solved, even if you see just one of these things, it’s still really important to get professional exterminators involved to get rid of the problem, or prevent it if it’s really just 1 (which is unlikely).”
