Harry and Meghan ‘snub Archie’s godfather’s June wedding ceremony’ to keep away from royal wrath
Prince Harry is allegedly set to give his son Prince Archie‘s godfather’s wedding a miss next month, in an attempt to dodge further friction with his Royal relatives. Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster and one of Prince Archie’s godfathers, is set to tie the knot with Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral next month.
Yet despite their close ties, Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly decided not to attend. However, Prince William is expected to be among the 400 guests, according to sources. King Charles and Princess Kate, on the other hand, will not be present as they continue their cancer treatments.
Charles and Kate are believed to have politely declined due to their ongoing cancer treatments, while Harry and Meghan’s decision to skip the wedding is thought to be a move to avoid any potential tension or uncomfortable family encounters with other royals.

Offering further insight into the decision, a Royal insider told The Sun: “Hugh is one of the very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both. He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realises it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding.”
Fresh from their recent Nigerian tour, Prince Harry and Meghan have touched down back in the US, after hailing the trip as a huge hit. The dynamic duo zipped from London Heathrow to Nigeria last week after Harry’s UK pit stop for the Invictus Games’ 10th-anniversary celebrations.
After a brief St Paul’s Cathedral service and a hotel stay, Harry rendezvoused with Meghan at the airport, where they soon jetted to off to Nigeria for a brief three day tour of the African nation. The Sussexes were all smiles, soaking up various engagements and basking in the event limelight during their West African adventure.
Following their brief sojourn to the West African country, it appears that the tide may be turning for the couple. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Mirror: “The Sussexes celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary on Sunday (May 19). After their successful three day trip to Nigeria, which, though private, was much like a royal tour, things could be looking up for them if they plan their future activities with care.”
He further commented: “Meghan’s programme for Netflix on cookery and entertaining and her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard and Harry’s series for Netflix on polo, show some much needed activity. They clearly need more A list endorsements however.”
