Lottery winner who gained ‘£10k a month for 30 years’ shares what folks all the time ask

What would you do if you won the lottery?

It’s a question that people often ponder when they’re day-dreaming. But it became a reality for one 24-year-old, who scooped the £10,000 a month for 30 years jackpot.

Taking to Reddit, the unnamed victor, who will now receive thousands tax-free, took part in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) thread. The Londoner wrote: “Managed to match all 5 numbers plus the life ball on last Thursday’s set for life jackpot. This equates to £10,000 a month until I’m 54.”

The jackpot winner asked people to “fire away” with their questions. And one of the most common questions was obvious – what did he actually plan to do with the winnings.

It goes without saying that he wants treat himself – but is planning to be cautious with the funds. He revealed: “As far as something nice goes my first ‘luxury’ purchase will be a watch.”

Other commenters told the Redditor not tell anyone and to “live [their] life mostly as if you do not have this money” to prevent getting into debt. It seems the unnamed lottery player is taking this advice on board.

The shrewd winner even has a plan for the first year of his new life and has already sought advice from a financial advisor. He also plans to keep the winnings under wraps.

He said: “I haven’t actually told anybody yet.” Then added he had not made up his mind yet about whether to inform those close to him, writing: “I haven’t decided yet. I’m thinking about just telling people I got a new job with a huge pay rise…

“I’m still in shock to be honest. I plan on taking a year off work to go and do some travelling and definitely using a few months worth for a deposit on a house. Yes, I have already hired a FA.”
