Brits ditching sunbathing as they select Taylor Swift look over Tango-orange

Pasty Brits are embracing their milk bottle legs after quitting sunbathing.

Just a third of us describe ourselves as a “sunseeker”, while half take warnings over dangerous UV rays more seriously than five years ago.

For young people, that jumps to 83%, charity Melanoma Fund found.

Pale celebs such as Emma Stone, 35, and Taylor Swift, 34, have helped shift the focus away from the orange tans of the noughties, like Gemma Collins, 43.

But some parts of the country still can’t resist getting a golden glow, natural or otherwise. The north east is the “sunbed capital of the UK” with nearly half of adults hopping on a sunbed at least once, charity Melanoma Focus says.

Spray tans are also rocketing in popularity with younger people, while Boots has added six new tanning products to its Glow range, bringing the number to 27.
