Camilla and Meghan Markle ‘couldn’t be extra completely different’ besides one key factor

Queen Camilla and Meghan Markle have just one thing in common, according to a royal expert.

While the pair have lived drastically different lives, one thing they do share is the fact they’ve both launched their own podcasts. As have Prince William and Kate, and Princess Eugenie.

Camilla may have only just announced the second series of the Queen’s Reading Room podcast but the Sussexes’ own show was seemingly shelved some time ago.

The Queen Consort came up with the podcast idea during lockdown, after taking to Instagram to chat to fans about her favourite books. The Reading Room Initiative resulted in a podcast series that made it into the top 1% globally, its own charity and a festival in the summer.

The Duchess of Sussex has not announced whether she will launch a second series of Archetypes
Meghan launched her podcast Archetypes on Spotify in 2022 but parted ways with the streamer earlier this year

Royal commentator Daniela Elser said this could be a “sore point” for the Sussexes, explaining: “Prince Harry and Meghan made the ‘mutual decision’ to split from Spotify after having only managed to make one, single, lone series in two and a half years and with a whole audio arm of their Archewell mothership.”

The Sussexes parted ways with the streaming giant in June last year after releasing 12 episodes of the Archetypes series. They were reportedly only being paid part of the contract’s value after not “meeting the productivity benchmarks” and being labelled “f***ing grifters” by one exec.

The Queen has announced a second series of her Reading Room podcast will launch next week
Camilla has proven a dab hand at podcasting and is releasing the second series of The Queen’s Reading Room next week

While the podcast launched at number one in the charts in the US and the UK, the subsequent episodes failed to perform as well, according to Elser.

She added: “When it comes to Camilla and Meghan, they are two women who could not be more diametrically different in terms of education, life experience, and professional achievements. The only commonality between them is that they both fell for, and wed, royal blokes.”
