Liverpool recognized six qualities for Klopp alternative – and Slot met all of them

Arne Slot had to tick six crucial boxes before being handed the reins to succeed Jurgen Klopp.

Slot has inked a three-year deal with Liverpool and will officially step in on June 1 after a compensation agreement was reached with Feyenoord. He’ll take up the title of head coach, a shift from Klopp’s managerial role that spanned nearly nine unforgettable years.

The Reds’ thorough hunt involving advanced data analysis, character and performance studies, market evaluation, performance assessment and various other factors pinpointed the 45-year-old as their top choice several weeks ago. His eagerness for the role led to a quick appointment.

This position aligns him with the revamped football structure which has seen significant changes in recent months with two former sporting directors Michael Edwards and Julian Ward making a comeback as FSG’s chief executive of football and technical director respectively. New sporting director Richard Hughes has been brought in from Bournemouth and will officially start his duties on June 1.

Klopp gave his seal of approval to Slot in his farewell address as he urged: “You welcome the new manager like you welcomed me. You go all-in from the first day. And you keep believing and you push the team.”
