Maccies followers divided by ‘complicated’ new objects – as fan-favourites additionally return

McDonald’s fans are in for a treat as the fast food chain is launching three brand new items, plus some fan favourites will be making a return.

As the weather has started to get warmer, many of us have been taking food, drinks, and ice creams outdoors to enjoy in the sunshine. For years people have flooded to McDonald’s for a McFlurry in the heat, and now a new flavour is incoming – Skittles. It will be on the menu from next week as well as other new introductions – which has sparked debate among fans.

Also joining the menu from Wednesday, May 29 is a Hat Trick Burger – a stacked, triple patty burger with two slices of cheese, grilled onions, ketchup and mustard – in a glazed sesame seed bun. The name pays homage to summer, which will be filled with sport including the Europa League and the Olympics. For a taste of the burger, it will set you back £5.89 for a regular and £7.69 for a medium meal.

A spokesperson for the chain said: “For fans craving that big win this Summer, McDonald’s UK & Ireland has unveiled an exciting new menu, packed full of crowd-pleasers.”

For those who prefer small bites, other savoury items are being added to the menu including sharing boxes. Customers can enjoy a Chicken Sharebox with six chicken selects, 12 chicken McNuggets, and four different dips for a price of £10.59. If your a Chicken Selects superfan, a new nine-piece share box has been launched, coming in at £8.49.

There is also an updated trio of dips hitting the menu “to pair perfectly with chicken”, says a McDonald’s spokesperson, including garlic mayonnaise, sweet and smoky BBQ, and sweet chilli. For cheese lovers, the popular mozzarella bites are making a comeback with a rich tomato dip for £2.39.

As well as the new Skittles McFlurry coming to McDonald’s around the UK – a soft dairy ice cream swirled with chewy Skittles fudge pieces and sugary pearls, topped with purple Skittles-flavoured sauce – there is also one hot dessert being introduced, as well as a chocolate favourite.

The Galaxy Chocolate and Raspberry Pie is making its debut and will be priced at £1.99. It has been described as a delicious combination of smooth chocolate and sweet fruit. Indulge in this crispy chocolate pastry filled with smooth chocolate ganache and a delightful raspberry compote. Galaxy fans will also be pleased to learn that the Galaxy Caramel McFlurry is coming back (£2.19).

Also returning, just in time for the warmer weather, is the fast food chain’s Ice Latte, which will set you back £2.49. Fans rushed to comment on the new and returning products after being shared by New Foods UK – a social media page which shares the latest food launches. While many are excited to try the new menu items, others didn’t seem quite so impressed.

Sharing their excitement, one individual said: “The pie and McFlurry look good.” Another added: “Iced latte thank the lord.” “Omg chocolate and raspberry pie, we need to try,” said another as they tagged their friend.

“I’m all over that,” wrote one other. But one other said: “So confused about the McFlurry.” “A Skittles McFlurry is tragic,” wrote another. “The pie and McFlurry sound awful,” another shared. “Isn’t the burger just a triple quarter pounder?,” questioned one Instagram user.

One other pointed out: “Curious about the Skittles McFlurry – wouldn’t they freeze hard like fruity bullets on your teeth. The Galaxy Raspberry Pie sounds good though.”
