‘Botched boob job left me with implants in armpits – however I will not cease’

A Turkey surgery-mad mum has splashed £20,000 on treatments and doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon – despite undergoing a ‘botched’ boob job.

Lauren Evens, 31, from Chester, decided to jump on the Turkey treatment train after she feared being “fat at 30.”

After struggling with her weight at just age six, the parent-of-three decided to jet off to the cheap surgery hot-spot for a gastric sleeve operation for £2,300 nearly two years ago.

From having ballooned to her heaviest at 24st and a dress size 26, the mum has now lost 15st and comfortably fits into a size 6 – which has given her the confidence to find love.

However, the ‘life changing’ surgery gave her a taste of the Turkey treatment and she has since returned for eight other procedures in the last 22 months – and is planning for more.

As well as her gastric sleeve operation – where 80% of the stomach is removed – Lauren underwent a ‘mommy makeover’, had prominent white veneers fitted and is now in the process of seeking IVF treatment abroad with her partner.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Lauren shed the light on why she ‘loves’ Turkey treatments so much and revealed the peaks and troughs of seeking surgery abroad on a budget.

She told us: “I love coming to Turkey now for surgery because, one, the financial reasons and, two, the treatment is so fast – no waiting around and the hospitals are like hotels compared to the UK.

“Personally if any of my family had an illness which is serious and the NHS make you wait ages for an appointment I would fly them out to Turkey as treatment is done quickly and thoroughly.”

Lauren started her Turkey surgery journey with the gastric sleeve operation that cost £2,300 – including return flights. That is a smidgen of the typical £7,000-£11,000 cost in the UK.

A year or so later Lauren, went to have a ‘mommy makeover’ which involves a package of a tummy tuck, breast lift and implants as well as veneers fitted.

Her ‘mommy makeover’ didn’t quite go to plan

Lauren admitted she received the cosmetic surgery for free in return for sharing her experience of the treatment on her social media profiles – where she has 55,000 followers.

But it didn’t go to plan. She claims her boob job saw the implants placed into her “armpits” and she has since had to have more surgery to correct the issue.

Lauren alleged: “It went wrong because they didn’t take enough skin off and my breasts the nipples where wonky and they didn’t take enough skin off the tummy. The implants they put in went under my arm pit.”

Despite the ordeal, Lauren has not been put off from seeking further plastic surgery in Turkey. As well as an arm and back lift to remove the excess skin from her extreme weight loss, Lauren is recovering from corrective breast surgery to remove the implant from her pits and improve the symmetry of her breasts.

It set her back £8,000 but received a “discount” on this when she booked multiple surgeries at once.

In July of this year she’ll be getting her veneers redone elsewhere as Lauren feels they are too big and joked that she looks like an ‘Aintree race horse’.

Not only was the financial side of things been a barrier to Lauren getting this surgery in the UK, but her mental health was too.

UK surgeons denied Lauren gastric sleeve surgery in the first place due to her poor mental health at the time, though she had no issues with accessing the treatment she desired in Turkey.

Lauren claimed: “[It’s the] price first and foremost and the fact I have mental health they refused to do my weight loss surgery in the first place but it’s actually saved my life.

She finally has the ‘perky’ melons she’s always wanted

“There are risks with any surgery, even here in the UK there are some amazing companies and surgeons in Turkey but also there are dodgy ones but you have to do your research.”

However, Lauren is now having another issue with accessing health needs on the NHS. She was looking into IVF treatment with her partner Hannah, but they are not entitled to the specific treatment option due to being a female-sex couple.

So Lauren and Hannah are jetting back of to Turkey in November to start the ‘Shared Motherhood IVF’. The treatment occurs when both mothers are involved in the pregnancy as Lauren will be carrying her fiancée’s inseminated egg.

And for her 10th Turkey treatment to hopefully welcome her fourth child and her first with wife-to-be Hannah, the couple are paying £9,000 (including flights) for the pleasure.

Lauren said: “We went to a London clinic and it was £10,000 more expensive than the UK but as a same sex couple we are not entitled for the treatment we want from the NHS you have to pay private.

“We have a consultation with the IVF clinic on May 20 and it’s likely we will be abroad for two weeks in November for treatment. I am going to be sharing all the process on social media.

“Although I have had negative experiences, I have now had a positive but cost did play a massive factor and I’m now grateful I have found Prime Health Concept for being genuinely caring.”
