Harry shares new challenge that gave him ‘goosebumps’ on tour with Meghan

Prince Harry is no stranger to a hectic schedule, juggling charity work, polo matches, family commitments, and the odd Royal engagement. But now, the Duke of Sussex has a fresh endeavour on his plate, inspired by his recent trip to Nigeria with wife Meghan Markle.

Wrapping up their three-day Nigerian tour last week, Harry visited several spots across the country, unveiling a pioneering new centre aimed at elevating his global support for veterans to unprecedented heights. At a swanky reception during his visit, Harry got a sneak peek at the blueprints for the upcoming Invictus Centre, set to offer comprehensive physical and mental rehab for injured military personnel.

Speaking at the bash, both Harry and Meghan expressed their gratitude to their hosts for the thoughtful present of traditional garb. Harry then shared how the vision for the new facility gave him “goosebumps,” reports People.

Cheering on the indomitable spirit of the wounded service members present, Harry commended them for not letting their injuries define them, a sentiment increasingly shared among the wounded veterans . “And that is what the new centre you’re building is all about. Seeing the plans for the new Invictus Centre gives me goosebumps,” he enthused to those gathered.

Harry also lauded the Nigerian Invictus team, saying they “represented their service and this country, extraordinarily – won medals and came back with smiles on their faces.”, reports the Mirror.

The new centre, inspired by the “rich architectural heritage of courtyard housing”, has been designed by famed architect Kobina Banning. It’s set to be a “pioneering institution.” Split across several interconnected compounds, the centre aims to offer soldiers a holistic path to recovery, all while surrounded by breathtaking panoramic views.

Each compound will be linked by walkways, allowing veterans to unwind during their recovery. Special provisions have also been made for families and friends to participate in the process, alongside facilities that include indoor and outdoor gyms as well as meditation areas.

Besides unveiling plans for the new Invictus Centre, the Duke also took time to visit a local military hospital in Kaduna. Here, he met with numerous young soldiers recovering from traumatic injuries such as gunshots and blast injuries. In scenes reminiscent of his late mother, Princess Diana, Harry spent time with the soldiers, shaking hands and listening to their stories.

Additionally, Prince Harry later spoke to several local children, hearing their stories of overcoming the challenges posed by their disabilities.
