Rooney’s son Kai luggage aim ‘precisely like dad’ to win cup for Man Utd youth crew

Wayne Rooney’s oldest son Kai scored a goal that resembled his famous dad as he won Manchester United a youth cup.

Kai, 14, is a real chip off the old block both in looks and evidently talent as he scored a sublime goal as United won the Albert Phelan National Cup final against Millwall on Sunday (May 19).

The Red Devils’ U14s side beat the Millwall youngsters 2-0 as Rooney Jr opened the scoring with a stunning half-volleyed chip over the Lions’ goalkeeper. Kai began his run from just inside the Millwall half as he latched onto a long pass from the centre-back to deftly lift the ball home from just outside the penalty box.

Kai’s goal was his eighth strike in six cup games on their road to success, as Edson DeJonge-Seiros later doubled the Reds’ advantage to seal the victory.

The forward posted a picture of him holding the cup to his Instagram page, along with the caption: “NATIONAL CUP. All glory to God. 8 goals in 6 games in cup. Onto next season.”

Soon after his success and goal were seen on social media, seeing the reaction from awestruck United fans who couldn’t help but compare him to his legendary dad.

One comment lauded: “Like father like son , super boy,” a second added: “He’s a natural. What a finish,” with a third quipping: “Maybe he can play for the 1st team next season…” Another fan even added: “You run like your dad. Damn”.

Kai’s talents have been showcased on social media with some of his goals and training ground skills being uploaded onto TikTok and Instagram – understandably leaving the United faithful hoping he can emulate his dad’s success at Old Trafford.

Rooney is United’s all-time record goalscorer with 253 goals and won all there is to win during his 13 years spent in Manchester, including five Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008.
