The Valance sisters at struggle? Close bond threatened by politics

The Valance sisters started their careers on Neighbours and once enjoyed a close relationship – but their vastly different politics is threatening to drive them apart.

Popstar-turned-actor Holly, 41, has praised Donald Trump as ‘fabulous’, said left-wing ideas were ‘cr**’ and slammed  her home country of Australia as too ‘woke’ in a series of interviews.

Yet her half-sister Olympia, 31, has distanced herself from such views, saying although Holly had the right to say what she liked, they weren’t views they both shared.

Olympia told HIT WA hosts Carly Portch and Allan Aldworth that Holly ‘rarely’ returns to Australia since she based herself over in the UK with her billionaire and British luxury real estate developer husband Nick Candy.

‘My sister and I have very, very different political views,’ the Summit star insisted when she was asked about Holly’s controversial podcast interview.

She continued: ‘It was like, ‘Oh my God,’ when she said all that stuff. I’m like, ‘Oh God! Everyone’s going to think that that’s what I think!’ And I don’t.’

‘She has the right to say the things that she wants to say… but yes, that’s not my opinion on anything.’

In an interview with GB News, Holly said: ‘Everyone starts off as a leftie and then wakes up at some point, wither after you start making money, working, trying to run a business, trying to buy a home, then realises what ‘cr**’ ideas they all are and then you go to the right.’

Holly also called climate activist Greta Thunberg a ‘demonic little gremlin’ in an explosive interview on Chopper’s Political Podcast last Friday.

The former soap star, who has recently rebranded herself as a conservative commentator, didn’t mince words as she revealed her thoughts on 21-year-old Swedish-born Greta.

She said: ‘I’m like, ‘Oh God! Everyone’s going to think that that’s what I think!’ And I don’t’

The Aussie star, who is known professionally as Holly Valance, told podcast host Christopher Hope: ‘I don’t understand why you have this, like, demonic little gremlin high priestess of climatism as the goddess in classrooms, Greta,’ she said.

‘All the kids are all coming home with depression and anxiety.

‘Why would you go to your music lesson or bother doing your homework or get out of your bed if you think we’re all going to be dead in five years anyway?’

In February, a former Tory cabinet minister called for the actress to stand as an MP for their party – claiming she ‘spoke for the nation’.

‘Holly could be a secret weapon for the Tories,’ one insider told MailOnline.

‘They need all the stardust they can get, and in a world where people have had enough of identikit politicians like Keir Starmer who are scared of their own shadow, she may be a fresh breath of air.’

Yet Holly, who says she has now all but retired from showbusiness to focus on bringing up her two young children, has now shunned the prospect of joining the Tories.

Instead, she revealed she will instead vote for Reform in the next General Election.

Throughout the interview on Chopper’s Political Podcast she was also probed over reports that her husband Nick, who she married in 2012, was planning to vote Labour in the next election.

She said: ‘It was just a miscommunication with the way he structured the sentence. He said ‘Labour is going to get in and it’s time for a change’.

‘It wasn’t ‘Labour is getting in and I’m voting for them’.’ Asked if he was going to vote Conservative, she replied: ‘I would assume yes. I think he’s a Tory’.

The billionaire caused confusion when he praised Starmer as ‘a decent man with good values’ and said it was ‘time for a change’ despite donating to the Tories when Boris Johnson was PM.

But the comments were made just days after Holly made her comments about left wing people as they both attended the new Popular Conservatism group event.

The married couple heard speeches from ex-PM Liz Truss, former Cabinet minister Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg and leading ‘Red Wall’ MP Lee Anderson.

After the Westminster event, Valance appeared to reveal herself as a fervent supporter of the ‘PopCons’.

The mother-of-two also declared she has no intention of moving back to her Australian homeland, lamenting that the country is going ‘woke‘.

‘The Australia I grew up in was unreal. It was so fun and we didn’t seem to have all these problems… the woke stuff’s really gone big in Australia,’ she said.

Holly elaborated on the ‘woke culture’, pointing toward ‘the stuff they’re teaching in school’: ‘I don’t think sexuality and children should be in the same sentence.

‘I don’t think anyone’s sexuality is anyone’s business.

‘You don’t know about mine. I don’t know about yours. Why would we?’

The singer was born in Australia but has UK citizenship through her British mother and now lives in London and the Cotswolds.

Luxury property mogul Nick Candy proposed to Holly in 2012, when during their Christmas holiday in the Maldives he arranged for the words ‘Will You Marry Me’ to be set on fire.

They married in an extravagant £3million ceremony in Los Angeles, in September 2012.

Holly and Nick have been longtime friends with both Princess Eugenie and husband Jack, along with sister Princess Beatrice and her husband Dave Clark.

The couple have shared numerous tropical holidays with the royal sisters, one being a trip to Saint Tropez, France.

Holly and Nick met in 2009 after meeting at a mutual friend’s dinner party.

She told the Daily Mail in 2013: ‘I never believed it when people said that sometimes you meet someone and you know he’s the one,’ she said.

She continued: ‘But, just to be totally cheesy and clichéd, it was like that the first time we met.’

They welcomed two daughters together in 2013 and 2017, Luka Violet Toni and Nova Skye Coco.

The couple enjoy a lavish lifestyle and previously lived in a two-storey Hyde Park penthouse at One Hyde Park in Knightsbridge worth £175million, making it Britain’s most expensive flat.

The enormous property featured a 21 metre stainless steel pool, two saunas and steam rooms a fully equipped gym and a squash court.

Nick and Holly have since downsized to a £10million countryside mansion in the Cotswolds, which they are currently renovating.

In 2020, Nick gifted Holly with a £26million superyacht, despite the mother-of-two famously suffering from sea sickness.
