Cristiano Ronaldo missed another sitter on Thursday night as Al-Nassr dropped more points in the Saudi Pro League after being held to a 2-2 draw by Al-Riyadh.

The Portuguese superstar passed up a golden opportunity in last Friday’s 1-1 draw with Saudi champions Al-Hilal, shinning the ball well wide of the target with only the keeper to beat.

He was presented with arguably an even easier chance on Thursday as he was played through on goal and had all the time in the world to pick his spot.

Yet the 39-year-old inexplicably tried to chip the keeper and ended up spooning his effort several yards past the post as he let Al-Riyadh off the hook.

It was a glaring miss from someone normally so clinical in front of goal, and came at a crucial time in the game, as he could have put his side 2-0 up after just 25 minutes.

Instead, Al-Riyadh went straight up the other end and equalised within a minute through former Watford striker Andre Gray.

They then went ahead in first-half injury time, with Al-Nassr needing a 97th-minute goal to rescue a point that leaves them 14 points behind Al-Hilal in second place.

Ronaldo has been in sparkling form this season, scoring 33 goals in 30 league matches, but has not had his shooting boots on in the last couple of games.

Portugal will hope he can rediscover his goalscoring touch in time for Euro 2024 after naming him in their squad for the tournament earlier this week.

It has been a busy week for Ronaldo, who was taunted with ‘Messi, Messi’ chants by Al-Hilal fans following his miss last time out.

He did not shy away from the spotlight after that disappointment, though, as he attended Tyson Fury’s undisputed heavyweight clash with Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday.

He sat next to former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua, and the pair were spotted sharing a laugh as they watched Usyk claim a split decision win to hand Fury the first defeat of his professional career.

Ronaldo will get the chance to finish his season on a high when Al-Nassr host Al-Ittihad in their final game of the campaign on Monday, before his attention switches to Euro 2024.
