‘Entitled stranger stole my seat on a coach – however I concocted excellent revenge’
Finding someone has nicked your seat is a nightmare.
Whether you’re hopping on public transport, settling in at a cinema or theatre, or just scouting the perfect park bench for your sarnie break – it’s proper annoying when someone nicks the spot you had your eye on. But what’s really annoying is when you’ve bagged that seat, popped off for a sec, and returned to find some cheeky so-and-so has pinched it.
That’s exactly the pickle one bloke on Reddit found himself in on a recent coach trip. He said he’d parked himself in a seat and spread out his gear, which he left behind during a “scheduled meal stop”.

When he hopped back on the coach, he was gutted to see all his stuff chucked onto another seat, with a randomer now sprawled out in his space. He said the stranger’s antics were “unnecessary” since there were other free seats up for grabs, and the bloke “would not budge” even after he asked for his seat back.
In his Reddit post, he shared: “[I was on a] Greyhound bus ride from Seattle to Spokane. Halfway through we stopped for a scheduled meal stop. People getting off left their jackets, books, etc. where they sat.
“When I re-boarded, I found a [stranger] sitting in my seat. He has removed by items and placed them somewhere else. This was totally unnecessary as there were plenty of other empty seats. He would not budge.”
The bloke, fed up with the hassle, decided not to kick up a fuss and moved to another seat. But when the bus stopped again, he saw his chance for a bit of crafty payback.
He added: “He was avidly reading a paperback book. We made a rest stop further down the line. When he got off I went to his seat and removed the last 30 pages from the book and placed it back down.”
Commenters hailed the chap’s sneaky retaliation. Some admitted they “physically recoiled” upon hearing his plot, but agreed the bookworm had it coming.
One chuffed commenter penned: “Scorched earth revenge if you’re an avid reader.” While another chimed in: “As an avid reader and author, perfect revenge. Simply perfect. He could have lost your stuff or even claimed it as his own.”
