‘My canine seems to be unrecognisable after his haircut – however now different pets tease him’

A dog owner has blasted his local grooming salon after other neighbourhood pets bullied his beloved pooch over his new haircut.

The disgruntled pet parent took to Reddit to vent, posting before and after pics of ‘Tiny’, his once bushy Golden Pyrenees. After the chop, Tiny was left looking like a whole new canine. “What they did to my boy!” the owner fumed.

“Tiny needed a haircut. We know the debate and sides to shearing a Pyr and had our reasons to trim the top coat. That being said, he came out a little shorter than anticipated. Well, it’s done now and he’s ok with it. It’ll grow back. Poor guy. All the neighbor dogs are teasing him.”

In a show of solidarity, another Pyrenees owner chimed in: “They did that to my Pyrenees, Daisy. I was worried about her pink skin underneath! I understand about the top layer she gets clumps that I usually trim by hand. Very handsome boy you have!”

Another sympathised: “That dog is naked. You should put a shirt on him so he doesn’t get arrested for indecent exposure. He looks like his foundation is the wrong shade and undertone. Poor boy.”

A third said: “He’ll need sunscreen, the poor kid.” However, a fourth user was quick to criticise the owner for allowing a Pyrenees breed to be clipped. “As someone who has raised Pyrs for 40 years, you never clip them,” they declared. “The double coat protects them from cold and heat. People raising them inside and in the suburbs tend to not like the mess it makes. And it might not matter too much as long as they are inside and out of the elements. What is he mixed with? Pyrs don’t tend to be golden. He’s very handsome.”

The original poster explained in response: “He’s mostly an inside dog. Goes out on demand but lives inside. He won’t get burned. He also has himself a nice den under some thick trees. He’s too funny in the jungle. We got him through a Golden Retriever rescue.

“While we were looking they said they have more difficulty placing mixed breeds and asked if we’d be ok with that. Of course we said sure, we’d at least meet some. Absolutely love at first sight! Then after we got him I started researching the mix. Turns out it’s a known (and I believed ‘recognised’) cross called a Golden Pyrenees. He thanks you for the compliment!”
