Tuchel warned Man Utd he’d have an issue with Red Devils legends if he will get job

Thomas Tuchel is tipped to be the next in line for the Manchester United hotseat – but has previously expressed concerns about the pressures that come with the role.

The ex-Bayern Munich gaffer is on the prowl for a new challenge after his disappointing stint in Germany and is reportedly keen on a Premier League comeback. His impressive yet brief run at Chelsea, which was crowned by an unlikely Champions League triumph against Manchester City, has put him in good stead for a move to Old Trafford, especially as Erik ten Hag’s future hangs by a thread with the FA Cup final clash against City looming.

The Guardian reckons Tuchel is top of the list if Ten Hag gets the boot after a shocking season, which has seen the Red Devils slump to eighth in the Premier League. However, Tuchel has aired his reservations about the intense scrutiny at United, amplified by club legends and former players turned pundits like Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen and Paul Scholes.

Before a Champions League face-off with United, Tuchel highlighted the issues surrounding the club, saying: “There is always a lot of noise around Manchester United. A lot of pundits in the UK are from Manchester United.”

He added: “You have a legacy from Alex Ferguson which creates expectations around the club. All of us, me in Bayern and my colleague at Man Utd, want to achieve the same things. It is pretty common at Man Utd that little things become a bit bigger or the talking is a bit noisier,” reports the Mirror.

Whether Tuchel would be tempted back to Stamford Bridge is anyone’s guess, after Chelsea parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino. But whispers around the Bridge suggest a Tuchel return is about as likely as a snowball’s chances in a heatwave.

The Blues hierarchy are reportedly on the hunt for fresh blood rather than a seasoned boss, with Ipswich Town’s head honcho Kieran McKenna being eyed up as a potential breath of fresh air. And let’s not forget the reported beef between Tuchel and Chelsea bigwig Todd Boehly, who is said to have once dubbed him a “nightmare” over transfer tiffs.

Over at Manchester United, Ten Hag is playing the waiting game, with his future set to be sealed post-Wembley weekend. Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be calling the shots once the season wraps, as Ten Hag for all his struggles this year looks to secure his second piece of silverware in just two seasons with the Red Devils.
