Pigeons are turning posh Cambridge into a poo-niversity by plopping all over students’ bedrooms.

Undergraduates at Homerton College have been warned by bosses to keep their windows closed at all times to keep out the pesky intruders.

The warning comes after several incidents of pigeons getting into bedrooms and nesting under students’ beds.

A note from housekeepers to the residents of Homerton reads: “Please make sure that your bedroom windows are closed before leaving your room as pigeons are an increasing nuisance and will think nothing of entering and leaving a mess.”

The note, which was highlighted in the Uni’s student newspaper Varsity, was accompanied by a large image of a menacing-looking pigeon.

It’s not the first time students at the elite education establishment have been plagued by critters. Earlier this year, the College advised students to decorate their rooms with cucumbers and cloves to help ward off pesky silverfish.

Back in 2018 meanwhile, Cambridge University’s Grade I-listed King’s College gained approval from the council to implement anti-pigeon measures to stop tourists getting covered in poo.

At the time, the college claimed that the pigeon muck was “causing mess and coming into contact with college staff that are posted at the gates throughout the day as well as visitors and paying customers”.

Their original plan to use spikes to deter the birds was scrapped, with the college eventually gaining approval from Cambridge City Council to use plastic disks near the entrance instead.
