Fans left baffled as Aaron Ramsdale wears fancy costume in Southampton crowd
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale wore a hilarious Hagrid costume while sat in the Southampton end in the Championship play-off final – leaving everyone confused.
Ramsdale was in attendance as Southampton confirmed their return back to the Premier League at the first time of asking as Russell Martin’s side beat Leeds United 1-0 at Wembley on Sunday afternoon (May 26).
Sporting a thick black beard and a fuzzy wig, Ramsdale brilliantly pulled off the iconic Harry Potter character, leaving fans inside the stadium and at BOXPARK Wembley in stitches prior to the game.

Fans were confused to see the England keeper sat amongst the Saints faithful considering he never played for the club and grew up in the Midlands supporting West Bromwich Albion, who were beaten in the play-off semi-final by Southampton.
But it soon became clear that he may have scooped a ticket to support his former Bournemouth team-mate, David Brooks. The Wales international suffered a mixed bag on the day as he was forced off with an injury late in the first half after Adam Armstrong had put the Hampshire side ahead.
What do you make of Aaron Ramsdale’s costume? Let us know in the comments section.
Ramsdale was pictured ahead of kick-off and inside the stadium with his stick-on beard still on, but later was filmed talking to fans after ditching the most obvious part of the costume in the sunshine, looking more like an extra from Pirates of the Caribbean.
The 26-year-old has endured a miserable campaign at the Emirates this season with the arrival of David Raya seeing Mikel Arteta drop the England international to No.2 keeper. Ramsdale played just two Premier League games since the beginning of September – both against Brentford due to Raya’s ineligibility against his parent club.
However, he does find himself one of four goalkeepers alongside Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson and James Trafford in Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man Euro 2024 squad, which will be cut to a 26-man roster before the tournament starts in Germany on June 14.
