“Thank you for making me feel welcome and one of your own. I enjoyed every second, alongside my team-mates and club. A bitter-sweet ending, but it was a pleasure to play for you, I wish you all the best.”

Greenwood’s move to Getafe came after a suspension by Man United due to allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault, reports the Mirror.

Mason Greenwood has said goodbye to the Getafe fans

Despite the Crown Prosecution Service dropping all charges against him, Greenwood hasn’t made a comeback to United’s main squad just yet. With next season’s plans up in the air, a return to the Red Devils seems off the cards, even though Sir Jim Ratcliffe hinted at giving the lad a chance.

Back in February, Ratcliffe mused: “We will make a decision, correct. All I can do is talk about the principle of how we will approach decisions like that. Is he the right type of footballer, are we happy with if is he a good person or not?

“He’s a Manchester United footballer, so we are in charge of football. So the answer is ‘Yeah, we have to make decisions. It’s quite clear we have to make a decision. There is no decision that’s been made.”

Mason Greenwood will return to Man Utd this summer

Recently, Greenwood hinted at a possible exit from Man United after reports of his £2million mansion in the area listed for rent.

The fully furnished six-bedroom pad is up for grabs at £14,000 per month. According to a source: “The fact it’s on the market is a strong indication Mason has no plans to return to United. The house was his home when he hit the big time with the club.”

Getafe’s fans warmly embraced Greenwood this season and were overheard chanting “Mason, stay” following their loss to Mallorca on the final day of the match season.
