Cristiano Ronaldo makes brazen boast after breaking Saudi Pro League document

Cristiano Ronaldo broke yet another goal scoring record as he set a new high for goals in a Saudi Pro League season.

Ronaldo, 39, swapped his career in Europe for the riches of Saudi Arabia in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United following a scathing interview on manager Erik ten Hag.

Proving he’s still got his goalscoring touch, Ronaldo bagged a brace in Al-Nassr’s 4-2 win against Al-Ittihad on Monday (May 27) to take his tally to 35 league goals for the season, eclipsing Abderrazak Hamdallah who scored 34 times in the 2018/19 season in four games fewer – also for Al-Nassr.

Following the game, Ronaldo uploaded a poster made to mark his goals record on Twitter, captioning the post: “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.”

The Portuguese legend also broke a second record last night, as he became the first-ever player to be top scorer in four different leagues – the Premier League with United, La Liga at Real Madrid and in Serie A with Juventus.

Ronaldo took his league goals tally to 35 for the season

Ronaldo has now taken his tally to 64 goals in 69 games for Al-Nassr, and he will be looking to add to that tally in the King Cup final against unbeaten Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal.

He will also have the chance to further increase his international records at Euro 2024 this summer after he was named in Roberto Martinez’s squad. Ronaldo’s 206 caps for Portugal is the highest in international football history and his 128 goals is also an unmatched milestone.

Portugal begin their Euros campaign in Germany against the Czech Republic on June 18, before they face Turkey and Georgia in their remaining two games in Group F.
