Woman shares ‘life-changing’ hack to banish smelly automotive AC – and it takes seconds
As the UK weather gears up for some sunshine, it’s almost time to whack on the AC in the car.
Air conditioning is a hero during long drives, keeping you cool and comfortable. But it’s always a nuisance when it starts to lose power.
This usually happens when the fluid runs out, leading to an unpleasant smell in your car if you continue to use it. Now one woman shared a clever trick on TikTok to avoid the issue.

TikTok user @master_driver666, who boasts a following of 648,000 on the platform, revealed a simple hack that won’t break the bank. In a video, she offered a solution.
She explained: “If there is a smell in the car when we turn on the air conditioner and the refrigeration effect is not good, in this case we open the passenger side armrest box.
“When you open it, there’s a switch, let’s hold it down, then you’ll see the armrest box falls off by itself. Next let’s hold this button, pull it upwards, we can see the air conditioning filter element.”
She then removed it and exclaimed: “Oh my God, look how dirty it is, no wonder the air conditioner smells bad! We only need to spend a meal to buy a filter element of the same model.
“After install it back in the same way as you took it out. Fasten the lid, install the armrest box, following this method we can replace the air conditioning filter ourselves.”

Since she posted the clip, which also revealed how to quickly fix a broken window mirror, she garnered a lot of attention online.
