Hungarian FA launch investigation after workforce’s 42-goal swing wins league title

Hungary’s youth football leagues have come under the spotlight after an investigation was launched by the FA following an absurd title-winning scoreline.

The Hungarian U14 league saw a final day to top all others as Kerekegyhazi SE beat bottom of the table Palmonostora SE 43-1 in the last game of the season to overturn the 42-goal difference advantage that league leaders Miklosi GYFE boasted heading into the season’s climax.

In the last match of the campaign, leaders Miklosi GYFE thought they had done what they needed to do in order to win the league title as they beat mid-table side Nyarlorinci LSC 1-0 in an underwhelming low-scoring encounter.

However, an even stranger result was to happen as Kerekegyhazi SE scored 43 times on the final day of the season to take the title by one goal to finish the campaign on 43 points and a 132 GD compared to their rivals 131 GD.

According to the league’s fixture list, all games kicked off at 10am on the same day.

But following the ridiculous scorelines, Hungary’s FA is reported to be opening an investigation after the league’s authorities reacted to allegations of match fixing and other malpractices.

While the investigation is set to start, Kerekegyhazi SE currently still hold their league title amid their crazy result.

The defeated Palmonostora SE lost their 15th and final game of the 16-match league in that controversial final day – having won the other game – but had conceded 155 games in their 15 outings prior, equating to them seeing over ten goals every game fly into the back of their net.

One thing is definitely for sure, Hungary’s youth leagues are crammed full of goals and entertainment.
