Naturists to strip off and make the leap throughout the UK in large bare swim

Hundreds of naturists will be taking the plunge across the country in a giant naked swim on Saturday.

‌It will be sun’s out, bums out as the mercury hits the early 20s and hordes strip off for the Great British Synchronised Skinny Dip.

Steven Searby, of Mid-Anglia Naturist Swimming Club, said removing your clobber is nothing to be scared of.‌

He is hosting a dip in Bury St Edmunds leisure centre, Suffolk.

The naturist enthusiast said: “This is a great chance for people to swim in a natural way. If you’re nervous about joining, remember everyone is doing the same thing and after five minutes it will feel totally normal. ‌There is no need to feel embarrassed.”

Explaining why swimming in the nuddy feels so great, he added: “When you’re in a costume or trunks you feel so restricted. When you take them off you can feel the water all over your body.”

The Great British Skinny Dip has linked with The British Heart Foundation to raise cash for the charity and awareness of the health benefits of naked plunges.

Swimming in your birthday suit boosts mental health and body positivity, they say. ‌The Naturist Foundation has an event in Orpington, Kent, and is even hosting a pool party.

‌Its website says: “Join us for the Great British Skinny Dip in Brockenhurst’s swimming pool. Starting at 11am with water polo and followed at 2pm by a pool party, with music and inflatables in the pool for all ages.”

Spielplatz Naturist Resort in Bricket Wood, Herts, is also opening its doors. Sausage is on the menu at the event’s post-swim barbecue.

Its website says: “Here’s a great chance to visit one of the UK’s oldest naturist clubs and enjoy the facilities for the day, including a fantastic outdoor pool, hot tub, clubhouse and bar.

“Activities will be arranged and food will be available from the BBQ.”

More than 500 swims have been organised for the Great British Skinny Dip over the year. But this Saturday is the first synchronised event where multiple venues all host dips at the same time.
