Liam Gallagher ‘makes big life change’ as he prepares for tour

Liam Gallagher has left his rock and roll lifestyle in the past and is opting for a healthier routine ahead of the Definitely Maybe anniversary tour.

The musician, 51, is set to embark on a huge arena tour starting this month, with venues including London’s O2 Arena, Manchester’s Co-Op Live and Glasgow‘s OVO Hydro.

And in preparation him and his partner Debbie Gwyther have relocated to the Cotswolds for a dose of outdoor living while their London home is being renovated.

According to reports from The Mirror, the star has begun eating a healthy diet and embarking on running sessions and has given up smoking and alcohol ahead of Saturday’s first gig at Sheffield Utilita Arena.

A source close to the singer told the publication: ‘He’s getting lots of country walks with their rescue dog Buttons and eating healthily, cutting down on alcohol and going for bike rides and runs.

‘He knows how quickly these Definitely Maybe gigs sold out and wants them to be epic shows. Rehearsals have gone really well and now he just can’t wait to get on stage and have it.’

Last month it was revealed Liam was renting a £16,950-a-month mansion complete with a meditation room to honour his vow to ‘live like a monk’.

His new home is a Victorian build in the heart of the Cotswolds and joins his North London and French abodes.

Liam’s gothic manor house is Grade II-listed and stretches over a whopping 16,000 sq ft.

As well as the meditation room, the property’s 11 rooms include a gym, a sauna … and a ballroom.

Speaking about his new health regime in March he revealed he hoped to ‘undo years of partying’ amid his arthritis battle and dealing with an autoimmune condition.

He admitted how his age is catching up with him after years of drinking and drug taking and that he now has a very different lifestyle.

In 2023 Liam revealed that he needed the joints replacing in his hip due to arthritis as a result of a longstanding thyroid problem. He then underwent a major hip operation.

Before that in 2017 he was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune condition of the thyroid gland. In addition he also suffers with the skin condition psoriasis.

He has now told The Sun: ‘You’ve got to undo all the bad work you’ve done through f***ing getting off your head and all that.

‘It’s time to undo it all now and get back to reality. All that stuff that you thought was cool in the early days . . . it’s time to get healthy.’

His ‘health trip’ has seen him cutting back on booze and stop drug taking and he now gets up at 4am every day.

Liam told the publication: ‘As you get older, life is precious, do you know what I mean? I’m a pretty happy-go-lucky guy. I love waking up early in the morning.

‘I’m definitely on the downwards slide, though. But we’re all going to die, aren’t we?’

Speaking about his hip issues last year he said: ‘My hips are f***ed, I’ve got arthritis, bad.

‘I went to get it checked out and my bones are mashed up. The lady was going, ‘Oh, you might need a hip operation, a replacement.”

He said at the time he didn’t want the operation because of the ‘stigma’.

‘I think I’d rather just be in pain. Which is ridiculous, obviously. I know that. Just get them fixed. But it’s the stigma, saying you’ve had your hips replaced. What’s next?’

He told MoJo magazine: ‘When the weather’s cold, my hips are like snap, crackle and pop. I need warmth.

‘I can’t sleep at night for the pain. Tossing and turning. So I’m on herbal sleeping tablets and they’ve saved my life. One of them, seven hours out, no pain, nothing.

‘My new thing is Deep Heat. Caked myself in it on the knees and hips, the calves, then into the steam room for as long as I can handle it.’

Liam, a keen jogger, was told by doctors to run less to help manage the condition.

In the interview he also spoke about his psoriasis, saying he once met a fan who thought he had cocaine in his hair – but it was actually bits of skin from his itchy scalp.

He said: ‘I’ve got psoriasis, so I had obviously been scratching it during the day and there were little white bits and s**t. They were taking it out of my hair and putting it on their gums and putting it up their f***ing nose!’

Taking to Twitter last February he said of having his hip operation: ‘Morning Rastas so I had my Hip operation last wk [week] all went well and RESPEK [respect] to all the doctors n nurses who looked after me Big shout out to the A team for getting us home safe n sound.

‘You know who you are and Florence guru I love and adore you Riverdance here I come LG x’.

Liam has teasing fans with details of the upcoming shows over on his social media.

Speaking about what he was looking forward to on tour, he explained: ‘Having a tussle with the microphone and the sound believe it or not.’

He also told one fan the set would open with Rock’n’Roll Star, the first track from the hit album which was released by Oasis back in 1994.

Taking to Instagram after his final rehearsals, Liam wrote: ‘Right that’s it we are SOUNDING and LOOKING BIBLICAL see you Saturday don’t be late LG.’

While there is no chance of a reunion between him and his brother Noel, he will also be joined on tour by original Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, who is said to be one of the few people still on good terms with Liam and his brother Noel.
