Bloke confused over why he will get free sandwich – till he sees the store receipt

Many people often say there isn’t such a thing as a free lunch.

However, one bloke was left gobsmacked when he scored himself a free falafel pita recently. And the reason behind it is enough to warm your heart or give you a good chuckle

The chap, from the US, trotted into a shop, ready to fork out for his tasty sandwich, but the server threw him a curveball by declaring “you’re all set” and handing over a receipt that’s now the talk of the internet.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the man couldn’t resist sharing his bewilderment with the world, posting a snap of the receipt and recounting: “Was the guy who made my sandwich in love with me? ? I tried to pay and he said ‘you’re all set’ and this was the receipt.”

Turns out, the $11.05 (£8.70) price tag had been magically wiped to $0, with ‘Love’ footing the bill. The internet has since lost its collective mind over the gesture, with the post going viral and amassing more than 3million views.

People are split between finding it utterly adorable or just plain hilarious as comments have been pouring in One user replied to his post: “Signs point to yes.” While another swooned, “I think you’re the one.” Someone else also dubbed the gesture as “so romantic”.

But the guy himself? He’s just as shocked as anyone, replying with a simple: “I am very surprised lol.”

Curious followers wanted more details, with one asking why he didn’t chat up the generous server. But alas, our man squashed any budding romance narratives flat, responding, “I’m straight.”

Another pointed out a humorous possibility adding: “This happens to me sometimes and I think ‘still got it’, but then I realise I just look homeless.” The man responded in jest, writing: “So ur saying it was a pity pita.”

Meanwhile, some were taken aback by the price. One internet user questioned, “Is $11 a normal price for falafel pita in America??” To which the man clarified: “Ya I guess depends where u go.”

What a pita-y it didn’t mark the beginning of a romantic tale.
