British-Israeli hostage held by Hamas has been murdered in captivity

A British-Israeli hostage who was abducted by Hamas alongside his mother has been murdered in captivity, it has emerged.

Nadav Popplewell, 51, was confirmed dead on Monday, following new intelligence received by Israel, according to The Times of Israel. His body remains in Gaza.

Popplewell was taken captive alongside his mother Channah Peri, 79, from their home in Nirim during Hamas’ October 7 attack.

His older brother Roi Popplewell, 54, was shot and killed by terrorists behind his home on the kibbutz that same day.

Peri was released in November during the temporary ceasefire deal.

Popplewell appeared in a Hamas propaganda video in May, however there was no indication as to when the 10-second clip had been recorded.

An Israeli community confirmed Popplewell’s death on Monday, after Hamas said last month that he had died of wounds.

‘Kibbutz Nirim announces with deep sorrow the death of abductee Nadav Popplewell in the captivity of Hamas in Gaza,’ the community said in a statement.
