ITV bosses consider Love Island gives ‘training’ for younger folks

ITV bosses have revealed they believe Love Island is a form of education for young people as they confessed they are hoping to amp up the sex for this year’s series.

This summer’s Love Island begins on Monday and is set to feature the most sex ever as randy Islanders will have unlimited access to the famous Hideaway

MailOnline revealed last week that the private room will have an open door for the first time, meaning contestants can use the intimate setting any time they wish without the need to be voted in, which has historically been the case.

And now show boss Mike Spencer has explained he hopes contestants will feel more comfortable to enjoy an off the cuff steamy romp which will help replicate what real dating is like and provide an education for viewers.

He told The Sun: ‘Love Island should demonstrate what a relationship is like and what dating is like. We’ve got an audience of young people so I think it is an education.

‘It’s seriously important for people to watch the show and know people aren’t perfect — none of us are.’

In 2016 Miss GB Zara Holland lost her title after she and bombshell Alex Bowen enjoyed a now-infamous night of passion in the hideaway.

Zara was left beyond bereft when it was revealed she was to be stripped of her Miss Great Britain title due to misconduct.

Zara then left the villa and faced the storm at home as she later said of the romp: ‘It’s horrible. You know, I was in the moment, I was in the Hideaway. I’d had a few glasses of Champagne, I’m not blaming it on that…’

Meanwhile in the same series carpenter Terry Walsh and bombshell Emma-Jane Woodhams were the subject of one of the most shocking moments in Love Island history when they had full-frontal sex above a duvet, entirely uncovered and in a communal bedroom while their co-stars – and the nation – watched on.

In 2017 Amber Davies romped on a lilo in the pool with Kem Cetinay.

Speaking about whether the pair had sealed the deal while in the villa she said: ‘It was true that we had sex in the house more than any couple. Why not?

‘If you fancy someone and you’ve got that sexual chemistry, it’s a natural thing.’

Molly-Mae Hague has also admitted her and her now fiance Tommy Fury also had sex while in the villa in a YouTube Q&A.

And insiders are hoping opening up the Hideaway this year will encourage this year’s cast to have more sex, given they’ll have further ‘private time’ away from fellow stars, and even Islanders who are not officially coupled up can use it.

A TV insider told MailOnline: ‘The Hideaway being open to all is a seismic move in Love Island world.

‘Contestants are desperate for the opportunity to have some private time with their love interest, but their chances have always been dependent on whether the room is available to use.

‘But this open door policy will change all that and it’s bound to be very busy.

‘There’s every chance this series could see the most sex ever and show bosses are certainly hoping that’s the case to boost ratings.’

The compound is the sexiest room in the entire villa and has been filled with raunchy items to get contestants in the mood for love-making.

It features a double bed with the words ‘Naughty Vibes’ inscribed above the headboard as well as a private hot tub and swing.

In previous years, there have also been drawers containing sex toys, whips, handcuffs and blindfolds, plus chocolate body paint and seductive massage oils.

But producers have scrapped the kinky accessories in the hope Islanders will spend more time focussed on just the two of them, without any distractions.

Speaking about the new Hideaway rules, Mike told MailOnline: ‘The Hideaway has a new neon ‘No Invite Needed’ sign, so it could be the sexiest series of Love Island ever.

‘There is no invite needed to go in The Hideaway. I think this series is really sexy anyway but we will always take more.

‘We want this series to be fun and young… single, fun people come abroad and find love… it’s worked before and hopefully it will work again.’
