Family of sweet sixteen who died in Discovery Cove tragedy compelled to fly dwelling with out her

The devastated family of a British teen who died after an incident in a Florida theme park’s swimming pool have forced to fly back to Wales without her.

Anna Beaumont was found unresponsive in the water at Discovery Cove in Orlando on Tuesday, May 28 at around 11.25am. The 13-year-old was rushed to hospital but could not be saved and was pronounced dead the following day.

The family were at the all-inclusive day resort, billed as a “tropical oasis” and sister park of SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatic Orlando, ready for a day of swimming with dolphins and snorkelling with tropical fish as part of a half-term holiday, when the tragedy occurred.

A friend of the family said:”This is just so tragic. Like any family they were very excited by the holiday. You never dream of coming home without a child.”

The medical examiner’s office in Florida has called Anna’s death accidental and listed the cause as drowning. Orange County police are continuing with investigations, and once the teen’s body is released by the coroner she can be returned to the UK.

Anna was a talented sports lover, who was a member of the local rowing club and a cyclist like her father, and had raised £900 for Noah’s Ark children’s hospital with a charity ride.

Trevor Wing, Chairman of Llandaff rowing club described Anna as a “a keen rower who had been training hard all winter and was enjoying the recent water sessions.”
