A massive fire at a warehouse near Ibiza Airport has caused delays for cars travelling to and from the travel hub.

Smoke was seen at around midday billowing out of the Citubo warehouse, located in the Can Frígoles Industrial Estate, which sits next to the runways of Ibiza Airport.

At least 13 flights from Ibiza travelling from 3pm to at least 5pm have been delayed, including a RyanAir flight to Liverpool John Lennon Airport, according to Spanish airport managing company Aena’s website.

The smoke was reportedly visible for miles around, from as far as Sant Antoni on the other side of the island.

The fire has led to long queues of cars forming on lanes going in and out of the airport, though no injuries or deaths have been reported.

Local media said that the workers in the warehouse were evacuated in less than two minutes.

Sant Josep City Council, the local authority, said the warehouse was destroyed in the blaze, and is expected to collapse soon, according to local media.

The warehouse, which sits behind a department store, reportedly contains a wide range of products including gardening equipment, furniture, lighting, household goods and toys.
